Community Council Meeting Agenda

September 13, 2018

 

  1. In attendance: Seth Robinson, Nicole McGarry, Melanie Wilhelmsen, Amy Rich, and Angie Snowden.

 

  1. We reviewed the Trust Land Plan for the 2018-2019 school year by talking about the use of Trust Land money to pay for math and reading aides and to renew chromebook carts.  In addition, some of the Trustland money was used to hire Lindsay Harline who is the Burch Creek Elementary Americorp Attendance Tracker.

 

  1. It was noted that the Burch Creek Elementary administration team is looking at various types of data that are already being collected by the teachers to determine what would be best to use as data for our Trust Land report.

 

  1. The community council discussed ways to bring the school and community together.  Some ideas were to look for parents who are already volunteering in the classroom to see if they might want to join community council and to personally invite parents to join community council.  Two other items were also discussed. There is a concern about the need for a crossing guard on the north side of the parking lot. Also, there is shortage of substitute teachers. Each council member was encouraged to personally invite one individual who might be interested in substitute teaching to apply.  

 

  1. Rick Proffer was excused from the meeting, so the council was unable to plan for calendar requirements and deadlines.  Angie Snowden will look into the upcoming school schedule and confirm the dates for the remainder of the 2018-2019 Burch Creek Community Council meetings.

 

  1. The school Title I Plan is in effect.  Angie Snowden is the Burch Creek Elementary Title 1 Coordinator.

 

  1. Nicole McGarry motioned for the meeting to be adjourned.  Melanie Wilhelmsen seconded the motion. All were in favor and the meeting was adjourned.
